Yes, it's communication. Yes, it should compare with the soap and water and energy (the light if you wash at night, and the balance of what you've been eating to wash the dishes with so much energy) but still, it says something important.

Maybe all this is possible because economy doesn't pay for its negative externalities...

There is a production process for soap, and its transportation as well.

Memes = bad logic, or missing facts.

Economy _does_ pay for that : lowering salaries, degrading working and living conditions, making people feel needs that are not such. Economy, as an aspect of human life, includes everyone in the ring, not just those, so few, who profit from the capitalist status quo. Some "externalities" are paid by non-human beings and we can leave them, albeit temporarily, out of our "economy", but many are actually the "internal" conditions of human misery.
