Never mind, some test work showed issues before I got to the production instances, so this will happen at a later point in time.
I had a major revelation, #GPL license is not viral and does not infect any code which uses / links against it.
To ensure the user has the legal right to link them, it needs to have a license that is GPL compatible, which it does. The Free Software Foundation has a FAQ that discusses this issue in lots of detail. Here are some of the most relevant parts.
This sounds like a myth / propaganda in hindsight
Huh, TIL: scp on Unix systems is considered fairly broken&unfixable by the openssh maintainers; probably better to alias it to rsync.

Everyone was so happy to unload on DigitalOcean for #hacktoberfest spam, but nobody seems to be saying anything about them having fixed it. Here's me correcting the Fediverse's mistake with a link: https://hacktoberfest.digitalocean.com/hacktoberfest-update
For most of this year, @zwol and I have been working on a pretty ambitious project:
* to make a fresh release of GNU Autoconf, a crucial #FLOSS build tool that hadn't had a new release since 2012
* to get paid for that
* to help put Autoconf on a more sustainable footing so it doesn't have to get rescued again a little while down the road
Autoconf 2.70 is due out next month, and you can read my fresh LWN story about the rejuvenation & what's next:

@stardot @Blort The alternative is to build our technology so that "where your content is hosted" matters less. The instance shouldn't be where the community is, or too critical to your character's identity.
Whether its Google or witches.town, if either leaves, the content you care about should be able to survive, and the user accounts too. You can see a bit of this here: https://gitlab.com/spritely/golem/blob/master/README.org

And finally up after a fair bit of struggling getting the networking right.
